A praise to the north of Europe. The share of electric vehicles on the roads in Northern Europe has been steadily increasing over the past few years. Countries like Norway and the Netherlands are frontrunners, but the North of Germany is catching up. The city of Hamburg is setting its sights more and more on electromobility.
Mercedes-Benz has already received its first major order: It is supplying 20 of the new, all-electric Citaro city buses to Hamburger Hochbahn AG. The first two vehicles will be handed over this year shortly after the vehicle’s world premiere.
The new, all-electric Citaro will go into series production later this year. It’s a standout with its maximum energy efficiency, the basis for which is a unique thermal management system. It reduces energy consumption and increases range. An energy-saving heat pump, for example, takes over the heating of the passenger compartment.
