Another great leap forward for the global bestseller among regular-service buses: the Mercedes-Benz Citaro has just extended its lead over the competition with a completely new engine generation. This makes the Citaro the first regular-service bus to be fitted and supplied with Euro VI engines as standard, and the world’s cleanest-running diesel regular-service bus. A raft of further innovations have reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, successfully offsetting the extra weight involved in meeting the Euro VI exhaust emissions standard.
The new ComfortClass 500 generation of touring coaches sends a very clear message at first glance: this is a Setra bus with a dynamic, self-confident look, one that earns top marks for comfort and safety, and redefines the tour bus premium segment. The two-axle model S 515 HD, the two- and three-axle S 516 HD and the three-axle S 517 HD will all be launched in the autumn of 2012. They are distinguished by the systematic refinements in design that continue to bridge the gap between traditional and modern bus values.
A new chapter in the history of regular-service bus operations: the first series-production Citaro to meet the Euro VI emissions standard left the production line at the EvoBus plant in Mannheim today. With the start of series production, Mercedes-Benz once more takes the lead in the field of eco-friendly buses. Based on pioneering diesel technology, they reduce CO2 emissions and ensure a clean environment for our towns and cities.
Mercedes-Benz Buses once again demonstrates its technological leadership: the premium high-decker Travego Edition 1 is the first touring coach to meet the Euro VI emissions standard. At the same time it is the world's first production bus to comply with the currently most stringent emissions standard: the first examples of the top-of-the-range model have already been delivered. The Travego Edition 1 comes with a new BlueEfficiency Power engine, a new transmission and cockpit, and unique safety features such as Active Brake Assist 2.
The success story of the current Mercedes-Benz minibus generation started in 2006. The line-up features four model series: Sprinter Transfer, Sprinter Travel, Sprinter City and Sprinter Mobility with a total of 14 basic models. The minibuses developed for use in urban, rural and touring-coach service as well as for services for passengers with restricted mobility are based on the current generation Sprinter. Mercedes-Benz Minibus GmbH, a fully owned subsidiary of EvoBus GmbH, produces the Mercedes minibuses in Dortmund.
