Berlin — DaimlerChrysler Financial Services provides tailor-made leasing and financing solutions to promote the vehicle sales of the DaimlerChrysler Group’s brands worldwide. With a comprehensive product portfolio including financing, leasing, insurance concepts and fleet-management services, DaimlerChrysler Financial Services manages a contract volume of €58.1 billion after the sale of the North American Chrysler business. Financial Services achieved an EBIT of €434 million (previous year: €437 million) in the first half of 2007.
More than every third new DaimlerChrysler vehicle worldwide is financed and leased by Financial Services. Working in close cooperation with the vehicle brands, Financial Services strengthens customer loyalty and generates new earnings potential for DaimlerChrysler. As one of the world’s leading captive financial services providers, DaimlerChrysler Financial Services is operating in more than 40 countries and has a workforce of more than 6,500 employees worldwide.
DaimlerChrysler Financial Services is the world’s largest commercial vehicle financer with a contract volume of about €17.3 billion (2006). Financial Services supports the sale of trucks, vans and buses from the DaimlerChrysler Group — the world's market leader for commercial vehicles — in all of the major markets around the globe. Every fourth truck, van and bus manufactured by DaimlerChrysler has been put on the road with the help of financing products from DaimlerChrysler Financial Services.
Financing and leasing is the core business of DaimlerChrysler Financial Services. All in all, the company's portfolio is composed of about 2.2 million leased and financed vehicles. DaimlerChrysler Financial Services offers not only traditional financing and leasing, but also comprehensive service contracts — including insurance, maintenance and repair packages — for all passenger car and truck models from DaimlerChrysler.
Strong growth in most important markets
DaimlerChrysler Financial Services' most important region includes Europe, Africa and Asia/Pacific. The contract volume in this region increased by 6 percent to €33.2 billion in the first half of 2007.
In Germany, the most important market in this region, DaimlerChrysler Bank further increased the share of financed and leased vehicles of the Group’s sale with attractive offers. DaimlerChrysler Bank manages a contract volume of €16.1 billion (€15.4 billion in 2004) and has more than 1,000,000 customers. Important growth potential is to be found in Central and Eastern European states of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia. Here, DaimlerChrysler Financial Services has already been successfully operating with its own leasing and financing companies for a number of years and manages a contract volume of more than one billion Euros.
The region of Africa and Asia/Pacific is also of major strategic significance to DaimlerChrysler Financial Services. Here, the company manages a contract volume of more than five billion Euros. In Japan, the largest market, the company has been active for 15 years. Since November 2005, DaimlerChrysler Financial Services is the first captive in China to provide customer and dealer financing for both passenger cars and commercial vehicles – as well as insurance services.
In North and South America (“Americas”) with the United States as the core market DaimlerChrysler Financial Services manages a contract volume of €20.9 billion after the sale of the North American financial services business of Chrysler (prior year: €19.6 billion). The company's business activities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina are coordinated from its regional headquarters in Farmington Hills, Mich. in the United States. The business units Mercedes-Benz Financial and Truck Financial provide dealers and customers with financial services for the Mer-cedes-Benz brands and commercial vehicles from the Freightliner, Sterling Truck and Western Star brands.
In 14 countries worldwide, DaimlerChrysler Financial Services is one of the leading providers of multi-brand fleet-management services. With its activities in the fleet-management segment, Financial Services plays a major role in boosting the share of Group brands in commercial fleets. In addition to services for individual vehicles, like insurance, leasing, maintenance, tire services and claims management, fleet management also encompasses fleet-related services like consulting, vehicle procurement, reporting and controlling.
The Insurance Services unit at DaimlerChrysler Financial Services provides insurance products along the entire automotive value chain. The array of insurance services ranges from brokerage of automotive insurance at the point of sale and via the Internet over risk management solutions and comprehensive insurance coverage for the protection of the DaimlerChrysler Group to accident and heath insurance products and pension schemes to the Group’s employees.
